The Scandinavian - A Complete Chess Opening Repertoire Against 1.e4 (Ebook)

[Sorry, this product is no longer available for purchase.]

"The Scandinavian - A Complete Chess Opening Repertoire Against 1.e4" is a chess ebook targeting beginners up to masters.

The Scandinavian Defense is favored by a large number of grandmasters and has often been employed as a surprise weapon by a number of high-class players. Indian Grandmaster and World Champion Viswanathan Anand used it against Garry Kasparov in their 1995 PCA World Championship match. Anand managed to equalize out of the opening, but he faltered later on.

Perhaps the greatest exponent of the Scandinavian was Australian Grandmaster Ian Rogers, who used it to rock the chess world in the 1980s. Danish Grandmaster Bent Larsen also made many significant contributions to this opening.

Quote: The Scandinavian Defense is "very good for converting into a win against slightly weaker players, holding for a draw against stronger players, and often picking off pawns and winning against stronger players as well" - International Master Joshua Waitzkin

Accessing the Ebook

To view this ebook, you will need to download Chess Openings Wizard Express Version (COW) for free. Click on "sign up" and log in to download the Express version. At the moment, it is also possible to download the executable file directly from Amazon Web Services. The software will convert into COW Lite Version after a 30-day trial of the Express Version, but there's no need to worry about this as the Lite version views the ebook perfectly well anyway.

If you have COW's predecessor Bookup 2000 (which isn't all that different in my opinion), you will also be able to open the ebook without any problems. COW is a positional chess database program, which is quite useful for viewing opening material. It was approved by Grandmaster Peter Svidler (FIDE rating 2744 as of January 2010) many years ago.

System Requirements

Windows 98/2000/XP/Vista/7/8, Chess Openings Wizard Lite/Express/Professional or Bookup 2000 Lite/Express/Professional
